The Angels of the Lord Camping in Your Bedroom
Did you know that the Bible says that there are angels camping out in the places where the people live, those who fear the Lord?
We can't see angels and they probably don't have tents like we have when we go camping, but here is what the Bible says:
"The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them."*
Why do angels encamp around those who fear God? The Bible verse says that God delivers them. What does God deliver them from?
In order to understand this question, we have to understand that there are good angels who serve God and there are bad angels who serve the devil, who is the leader of all the other bad angels.
The bad angels try to get us to disobey God. They do not like God and they want us to not trust God. The bad angels lie to us and wish to harm us. The good angels protect God's people from the bad angels. No harm can come to anyone who trusts in the Lord.
What does it mean to 'trust in the Lord'? How do we do this? One way to understand this is to look at the wordless colors and see what they mean. The story that is behind the meaning of the wordless book colors is from the Bible. We use colors to help us understand what the Bible is saying and also to help us remember the Bible story which is true.
Gold - Gold reminds us of heaven. Heaven is the place God lives and is preparing for those who know Him to live after they die. The streets in heaven are made of gold. Gold represents purity. God is pure. There is no flaw in Him. He is perfect and without sin. He has never made a mistake or done anything wrong.
Black - Black reminds us of sin, the bad things people do. When we break a commandment from God, we sin. When we tell a lie, or take something that is not ours, we sin. When we hate someone or tell lies about someone else to hurt them, we sin. When we argue with our parents or if we use God's name in a wrong way, we sin. Sin always requires a payment. That payment is, death. When we sin, it is like our souls die. After we die, we will go to a place of punishment for sin. Someone has to die to pay for our sins, if we want to have a right relationship with God. That person has to be one who has never sinned.
Red - God knew we needed to be saved from our sins. God provided the answer to our sin problem when He sent His Son to die for our sins. When He died, mean people nailed Him to pieces of wood in the shape of a cross. That is what it means when we hear that 'Jesus died for our sins'. When Jesus was dying, He took all of our badness (sins) on the Cross with Him, and paid for our sins by dying in our place. We would have to pay for our sins by staying in hell forever. But Jesus died in our place so we could live with Him in heaven instead.
White - After God's Son died on the Cross for us, He was buried and put in a grave. But He did something that no one else ever did. He arose from the grave a couple of days later. He did not stay dead and He is still alive today. He went back up into heaven. Now we can have a clean heart instead of a dirty one. He can give us a brand new heart that loves to do good things and a heart that wants to
know God. The white color stand for a clean heart.
Green - Green stands for growing things. When we come to know the Lord, then our soul is alive again. We can feed our souls by studying God's word. We can pray to God and listen to what He says to us. Our souls will be healthy if we do this. This is how we grow spiritually. We cannot grow spiritually if we have a dead heart. If we have a new heart from God, we can grow spiritually.
Things to know:
1. Jesus is God's Son who came to earth to die for our sins.
2. Jesus came back to life from the dead and is still alive today.
3. Jesus will come back to earth to gather His people and take them with Him, one day.
4. We must understand that we are 'sinners' and God cannot allow sin in heaven.
5. We are separated from God because of our sin. We need to be reconciled to God in order to know Him.
6. We cannot continue to live for our own selves. We have to let go of our sins. We have to ask God to help us leave our sins behind.
7. We can come to God now, because Jesus died for our sins. He paid for us to be able to be made right with God. When we turn to God, He will give us a new clean heart.
8. When we trust in God, and come to Him, and turn away from our sins, He comes to live inside us. He helps us to say 'no' to the temptations that come our way to sin.
9. The devil will keep tempting us to sin. The devil will make sin look normal and right to us. God's Holy Spirit will help us to not sin, if we trust Him.
10. We must respond to God. Knowing about Jesus dying on the Cross for our sins is not enough. We have to turn away from our sins and turn our hearts to God. We have to trust God, and turn to Jesus as our Savior from sin.
You can talk to God right now. Before Jesus came to earth and died for our sins, people could not talk to God, because they were separated from God because of their sin. Now that Jesus died to pay for our sins, we can talk to God. You can tell God in your own words that you want to be forgiven of your sins. You can ask God to clean your heart from sins that you have done. You can ask God to help you to know Him better. Thank God for sending His Son to die for you and for paying for your sins.
Here is a sample prayer you can pray. You can put it in your own words.
Dear God, I am sorry for the bad things I have done. Please forgive me for the sins I have committed. Thank You for sending Jesus to die for my sins. I want to turn my life over to You. I want to trust in You and know you better. I want to trust in You and live my life for You instead of for myself. I pray in Jesus' name.
God's angels camp out around those who fear Him. Who are the ones who 'fear' Him? Those who know that God is the One who created us, is holy, all-powerful, and who we will give account to after we die. They are those who trust in Him.
If you are trusting in Him, then the angels are camping around your room or wherever you are at, and will protect you from the evil around you.

The Coloring Song by Petra
The Coloring Song
Red is the color of the blood that flowed
Down the face of Someone Who loved us so
He's the perfect man, He's the Lord's own son,
He's the Lamb of God, He's the only one
That can give us life, that can make us grow,
That can make the love between us flow.
Down the face of Someone Who loved us so
He's the perfect man, He's the Lord's own son,
He's the Lamb of God, He's the only one
That can give us life, that can make us grow,
That can make the love between us flow.
Blue is the color of a heart so cold
It will not bend when the story's told
Of the love of God for a sinful race
Of the blood that flowed down Jesus face
That can give us life, that can make us grow
That can keep our hearts from growing cold.
It will not bend when the story's told
Of the love of God for a sinful race
Of the blood that flowed down Jesus face
That can give us life, that can make us grow
That can keep our hearts from growing cold.
Gold is the color of the morning sun
That shines so freely an every one
It's the sun above that keeps us warm
It's the Son of love that calms the storm
That can give us life that can make us grow,
That can turn our mornings into gold.
That shines so freely an every one
It's the sun above that keeps us warm
It's the Son of love that calms the storm
That can give us life that can make us grow,
That can turn our mornings into gold.
Brown is the color of the autumn leaves
When the winter comes to the barren trees
There is birth, there is death, there is a plan
And there's just one God, and there's just one man
That can give us life, that can make us grow
That can make our sins as white as snow
When the winter comes to the barren trees
There is birth, there is death, there is a plan
And there's just one God, and there's just one man
That can give us life, that can make us grow
That can make our sins as white as snow
That can give us life, that can make us grow
That can turn our mornings into gold.
That can give us life, that can make us grow
That can keep our hearts from growing cold.
That can give us life, that can make us grow
That can make the love between us flow.
That can turn our mornings into gold.
That can give us life, that can make us grow
That can keep our hearts from growing cold.
That can give us life, that can make us grow
That can make the love between us flow.

The Color Black
Yesterday, I was thinking of how the Black Plague (or Black Death) reminds me of the color 'Black' of the wordless book colors. If you don't know the story of the Black Plague, it was a terrible event that started in 1347, when ships came into a port at Messina, Italy. When the ships were opened, most of the sailors were dead and were covered with black boils on their bodies. Those who survived were very sick and in a lot of pain. What happened next was so horrible. This Black Plague, also known as Black Death, spread throughout the continent of Europe. Within 5 years, 1/3 of Europe's people died because of this 'Black Plague'.
The Black Plague killed people as the disease entered their bodies. We call this physical death. But there is a part of people (human beings) that is invisible, but will live on forever. It is called our 'spirit'. With human beings, they are made up of a physical body that can be seen, and a spiritual body that can't be seen. Just as the Black Plague caused many to die physically, there is a kind of spiritual 'Black Plague' that affects every human being who has been born. It is called, 'sin'.
We talk about sin and its affects on us but we don't really understand that, according to the Bible, sin kills us. Sin is like a disease. The devil is our Enemy and he will try to tempt us to sin, because he knows that sin will kill us. When we sin, we don't necessarily feel like we died. It is a tricky thing. Not only does sin kill us, but God will also punish sin in the end. Every person on earth is affected by sin.
What is sin? Sin is the bad things that we do, but it is also so much more. We sin because we are sinners. We are born with a sinful heart. A sinful heart looks selfish and prideful. As we begin to develop in life, we can see more and more sin in our own hearts. As we grow up, we love ourselves more and more, and we love other people less and less. We don't love God because our darkened hearts cannot see Him and we don't know Him. The root of sin is in all of our hearts. It must be taken care of.
How did this all happen, you might ask? Why was I born with a sinful heart? It goes back to the Bible in Genesis chapter 3. In Genesis chapter 1 and 2, we see how God created man and woman, and took good care of them. God was good to them and loved them. They were not born with sinful hearts. But one day, the devil played a trick on Eve, who was the first woman God made. The devil was angry with God because he tried to be more powerful than God and was filled with pride. He wanted to take over the world and he sinned by trying to take God's place on the throne. After the devil did this, God threw him down to earth. Now the devil was roaming the earth and he planned to ensnare human beings into rebelling against God. The devil was successful. God told Adam and Eve that they were not to eat fruit from a certain tree in the Garden of Eden. There were many, many, many trees and plants Adam and Eve could have eaten from, but the devil went up to Eve one day and lied to her. He tricked her into eating the fruit from the tree that God told them not to eat from. When God came down to see what happened, He pronounced a curse on the devil, on Adam and Eve. The earth was cursed as well and was not going to bring forth all the beautiful fruit and vegetation that it once did. Things would never be the same. Since then, sin has been a big issue and a lot of people have been hurting each other. Now we have sickness and disease, war and famines. All kinds of bad things have happened since Eve took the fruit off the tree at the devil's recommendation.
Now our spiritual hearts are filled with the disease of sin. It results in our being selfish and wanting to control others. It makes us hateful and mean. It makes us so we hate authority. It makes us angry with God, for we want to call the shots and get what we want instead of what God wants for us. It makes us so that we don't trust God. It makes us so we don't believe God is good and will be good to us.
The wordless color black reminds us of sin. Sin is the ugly things we do, especially to others. But the good news is that we can have a cleansed heart. We can actually have a new heart. God sent Jesus, His son to us, 2,000 years ago. Jesus lived a perfect life. He never sinned. But He came to pay the penalty for our sins. When Jesus died, all of our sins were placed upon Him. God the Father punished Jesus for our sins. Now we can go free. We can be sin free because of what Jesus did for us! Jesus died and was buried. But three days later, He came back to life. He stayed on earth for about 40 days then went back into heaven to be with His Father.
We can have our hearts cleansed from sin. But we must turn away from sin, and trust in what Jesus did for us on the Cross, 2,000 years ago. God will cleanse our dirty hearts, and He will also give us a new heart with new desires. Jesus death was powerful enough to cleanse every sinner from their sins.
'...the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanses us from all sin.." 1 John 1:7
My heart was dark with sin,
Until the Savior came in.
His precious blood, I know,
Has washed me white as snow.
And in God's word I'm told,
I'll walk the streets of gold.
To grow in Christ each day,
I read the Bible and pray.

Have you heard of the 10 Commandments?
1. You shall have no other gods before God. (You shall not love anything as much as or more than God).
2. You shall not make any graven images of God. Don't make up a god that you want to believe in. That is called, 'Idolatry'. We are to trust in and hope in God alone.
3. You shall not use God's name in vain. Use God's name only when you are addressing Him or telling others about Him.
4. Keep the Sabbath Day holy. Keep one day a week set aside to spend with God.
5. Honor your father and mother.
6. You shall not murder. This includes abortion, as well as being angry with people. Murder begins in the heart as anger.
7. You shall not commit adultery. If you are married, stay faithful to your spouse. If you are not married, don't look at people in a lustful, sexual way.
8. You shall not steal. This includes anything. Answers to tests, and downloading things from the Internet that aren't free. Also, taking towels from a hotel you have stayed at. Your friends will know what you have done when they see the Holiday Inn towels in your bathrooms.
9. You shall not bear false witness. This is telling things that are not true. It is a form of lying.
10. You shall not covet. coveting involves wanting to have something badly. Whatever it is that you want, it is more important to you than God is.
Have you kept the 10 Commandments? If you gave yourself a score on your ability to keep them 24/7, how would you score? Anything less than 100% means you have failed the test! Go to http://thegospelconversation.blogspot.com for more info.

The Story of the Gospel Told With Colors
The Colorful Story - A True Story
There is a colorful way to explain the Gospel. There are five or six colors to describe parts of the Gospel. They are:
There is a colorful way to explain the Gospel. There are five or six colors to describe parts of the Gospel. They are:
Gold=Reminds us of God. He is holy and perfect. No sin or wrongdoing will ever be in His presence. The streets of Heaven are paved with Gold. When people die, they go to meet God. Either they will be in Heaven and live with God forever, or they will be in Hell to be punished for their sins.
Black= Sin. Sin is wrongdoing. We commit sin when we break the 10 Commandments. If we break just one Commandment, we are guilty of breaking them all. On a scale of 1-10, how would you score yourself on keeping the Commandments. All lawbreakers will be punished in Hell for eternity. God has no choice but to punish sin.
Red= the Blood of Jesus Christ, God's Perfect Son. Around 2000 years ago, God sent His Son to live on earth and to die for the sins of people. He lived a perfect life without sin, and God placed all our sin upon Him on the Cross. He died and was buried in a tomb. He came back to life three days later and has gone back into the Heavens. He will come back one day to judge people for their sins, and to take back to Heaven His own people.
White= a Clean Heart. You might be asking yourself, how can I get rid of my sin? If no sin is allowed in Heaven, and God must punish sin, what is the answer? Jesus blood can cleanse a sinful heart. It is powerful enough to cleanse every person from sin who wants to be cleansed. The key question is, "Do you really want to be cleansed from all your sins?" If you do, you will turn away from your sin and you can trust in what Jesus did on the Cross to pay for your sins. He promises to cleanse and will give you a new heart with right desires. You will become a new creature in Christ. You will also have the power and the desire to say 'no' when you are tempted to sin, and to say 'yes' to doing what is right. You will become a new creature in Christ.
Green=Growing Things. Just like you feed yourself with food for nourishment, you can feed your soul with spiritual nourishment. The Bible is like food for the soul. You can be healthy spiritually. If you turn from your sin, and trust in Jesus Christ, you are part of the Body of Christ, which is the church. You will need to find a good Bible believing church to be part of to help you with your spiritual walk. Good communication with God is important. That is what prayer is. God helps us to grow as we develop our relationship with Him through prayer.
Gray= the 10 Commandments. This color is one that some people have added to the story. It probably belongs next to the black color because it reminds us of the 10 Commandments, which we have broken and it shows us our sin, and need for a Savior.
